Frankel Offspring 2021: Perfect News Goes Well on Yarmouth Debut

This seaside destination has seen its share of classy two-year-olds.

William Haggas is no stranger to unveiling talented juveniles and this mile straight is a lovely course to make a start to a racing career.

4th August, Great Yarmouth, saw Perfect News make her debut when contesting the Diomed EBF Maiden Fillies' Stakes (GBB Race) (Class 5) (2yo) (6f3y) 6f on good going.

If you are looking for a well bred two-year-old then you will go a long way to find a potential talent such as Perfect News. This daughter of Frankel is out of a very memorable horse, Besharah, who was similarly owned and trained. She made her mark over two seasons 2015 - 2016 when racing 12 times. Her formative season was particularly impressive with four victories from seven starts including comfortable wins at Group 3 & 2, and placed when concluding her two-year-old season losing by less than one length when favourite in the Cheveley Park Stud (Group 1), staying on behind Mark Johnston's Lumiere.

If Perfect News can achieve half of the success of her mother Sheikh Rashid Dalmook Al Maktoum will be a very happy owner.

Perfect News made a lovely introduction when finishing just under two lengths behind the talented and experienced Princess Shabnam (see her at Tattersalls breeze-up Sales) who was tasting victory for the first time after two dashing efforts, finishing runner-up to another Frankel talent in Frankella, trained by Andrew Balding, who was far from disgraced when fifth a Listed class.

Liam Jones gave Perfect News a tentative introduction, sitting just behind the lead, progressing nicely through the race, bustled along at the two pole, before closing on the winner in the closing stages to take second place in easy fashion but always held by the victor.

Ridden with hands and heels, Perfect News is a two-year-old with a future and she is likely to improve markedly for this first effort and could well be stepped up to 7f.

There's every chance this March foal will be contesting group class.

Winning will be a formality.

Good luck to connections.

Update: 18th August 2021

Good to see Perfect News winning second start at Carlisle
