Fivethousandtoone is a bay colt sired by Frankel out of a two-time winning mare, including a Listed race success.
This colt cost a fair sum at 475,000 guineas and was clearly held in high regard when starting his career at Windsor when priced 5/6f. As with s many good horses, bumped into another rare talented when held by Bahrain Price, trained by Simon Crisford, who has since run out a very easy winner of the Ripon Two-Year-Old Trophy. I can image Balding and the owners King Power Racing Co Ltd must have been surprised if not disappointed by this initial loss but were certain a win would be coming soon.
That was the story when this February foal headed to Newcastle on the 3rd September, racing over six furlongs, this strapping colt was priced 1/2f and fairly sauntered home winning by an easy four lengths.
Connections have big plans for the son of Frankel and he is earmarked for the Dewhurst Stakes (Group 1) a race Andrew Balding is yet to win in his training career. He would love to emulate the success of his father who was successful with Dashing Blade back in 1989, in the familiar silks of Jeff Smith, ridden by John Matthias.
There is little doubt Fivethousandtoone will be competing at Group class and by all accounts will be competitive at that level.
Who knows, come Saturday 10th October 2020, Frankel may follow in the hoof steps of Pinatubo, Too Darn Hot, U S Navy Flag, Churchill, Air Force Blue Belardo, War Command, Dawn Approach, Parish Hall...
And for the biggest winner of them all Frankel who won the Dewhurst Stakes (Group 1) in 2010.
Good luck to connections.
